Birdsfoot Trefoil

Birdsfoot Trefoil is a perennial with a deep root system.  It is very drought resistant and winterhardy.  Birdsfoot Trefoil has a feed value very similar to alfalfa and has a much lower danger of bloat when grazed compared to alfalfa and other clovers.  It will tolerate wet soils and a soil pH as low as 5.0

The plant is fairly slow to establish, but competes very well once it has become established.  Birdsfoot Trefoil is salt tolerant, making it useful in roadside applications.  Seed should always be inoculated before planting.
