Chicory is a broad-leaved perennial herb with excellent feed value for all types of livestock.  It is best seeded as a dominant part (6-8#/acre) of a mix with medium red clover (5#/acre) and white clover (3#/acre), or as a minor component (2-3#/acre) in a grass/clover pasture mixture.  It should be seeded at less than 1/4" depth in mid-spring or 6 weeks prior to frost in fall.  Graze when the chicory is 6-8" tall, leaving 2-3" stubble.  A stand should last 3-5 years.
