Medium Red Clover

Medium Red Clover is considered a biennial, typically lasting 2 years.  It is used for pasture and hay, as well as a soil improvement crop as it is a good producer of soil nitrogen.  It can be frost seeded very successfully. Two hay crops are generally produced per year.

Medium Red Clover does best on heavy, well-drained soils.  It will tolerate lower pH soils than will alfalfa.  It ranks next to alfalfa in feed quality.

Medium Red Clover will generally not yield as well as alfalfa, is not as winterhardy, and requires more moisture.
